Giant Chocolate Cookies
This recipe makes 8 large cookies. If you prefer smaller cookies, drop the dough by well rounded tablespoons onto the prepared baking sheets, flatten them slightly, and bake 10 minutes or until set.
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup reduced-fat sour cream
  • 1/4 cup light olive oil
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1-1/2 ounces mini chocolate chips

1. Preheat oven to 350°F. On a sheet of waxed paper, sift together flour, cocoa powder, cinnamon, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

2. In large bowl, beat sour cream and oil until well combined. Add sugar and vanilla, beat until well combined. Fold in flour mixture just until combined. Fold in chocolate chips.

3. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper (or spray with nonstick cooking spray). Place dough by scant 1/3 cupfuls 3 inches apart on baking sheets for a total of 8 cookies. Flatten each to a 4-inch round. Bake 20 minutes, reversing baking sheets halfway through, until cookies are just set. Transfer to a wire rack to cool.
