  • 1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon cider vinegar
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 pound flank steak, trimmed

1. In shallow glass dish, stir together tomato sauce, tomato paste, honey, vinegar, chili powder, ginger, mustard, salt and cayenne. Add steak turning to coat.

2. Preheat the broiler. Lift steak from its marinade and place it on broiler rack. Brush with some marinade. Broil 6 inches from heat for 5 minutes per side for medium, brushing with any remaining marinade during first 6 minutes of cooking. Discard any leftover marinade.

3. Transfer steak to serving platter and let stand about 5 minutes before slicing.
