Berries with Orange-Lime Syrup
Serve this dessert on its own or as a topping for frozen yogurt or sorbet.
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 3 strips (3- x 1/2-inch) of orange zest
  • 3 strips (3- x 1/2-inch) of lime zest
  • 1/3 cup fresh orange juice
  • 3 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 1 pint strawberries, halved
  • 1 pint blueberries

1. In small skillet or saucepan, combine sugar, orange zest, lime zest, and orange juice, stirring to blend. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Boil for 2 minutes, remove from heat, cover, and let cool to room temperature, about 20 minutes. Remove orange zest and lime zest and discard.

2. Transfer syrup to a medium bowl and stir in lime juice. Add strawberries and blueberries, tossing to coat. Chill for 1 hour before serving.
