Stress and Your Heart Meds (Canada)
If you are under a lot of stress and take heart medications, your medicine may not be working at optimum level. A new study tested participants for such symptoms as irregular heartbeat and chest pain and then put them on heart drugs (beta- and calcium channel blockers). Those under the most stress benefited least from the medication. Techniques such as meditation, tai chi, and relaxation training may help to reduce stress. (Psychosomatic Medicine, 11/12/99
