Rx Chocolate
Many people take an aspirin a day to help prevent blood clots and ward off stroke and heart attack. Chocolate may have the same benefits, report scientists from the University of California at Davis (American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, 7/00).

The researchers found that the equivalent of 12 oz of hot cocoa had an effect on blood clotting similar to aspirin's, but slightly less potent.

Chocolate is rich in the same heart-healthy antioxidants found in tea. Opt for a high-quality dark chocolate, rather than milk chocolate for the greatest potency.
