Ginkgo for Ringing Ears?
Preliminary results from a large scale trial of ginkgo for ringing in the ears, or tinnitus, indicate the herb may not offer advantages over a placebo, according to study author Dr. W. E. Davies. Participants took 50mg of ginkgo in pill form three times a day for 12 weeks. Previous smaller studies had shown mixed results and some patients (and doctors) swear by ginkgo. It's uncertain at this point whether some subgroups of patients may be more likely to benefit from the herb(Sixth International Tinnitus Seminar, Sept. 1999).
