Healing Kitchen

If you have a garden, and you planted tomatoes in the spring, you are now happily harvesting the fruits of your labor. August is tomato month, at least for most parts of the country. There is nothing in this world like a tomato picked right out of the garden. Second-best is to get a tomato from someone else's garden, or from a farmstand or farmers' market. And, if all else fails, this time of year you can probably get pretty decent tomatoes in supermarkets. Not only are tomatoes delightful to eat, they are also good for your health: They are low in calories and brimming with vitamin C, some B vitamins, and the carotenoid lycopene. Try one of the recipes in the links below for some interesting ways to cook with tomatoes.
