Do I need more protein if I'm weight training?

N.S. Hingham, MA
When you weight train, some muscle fibers are damaged and new ones are formed. That occurs during aerobic workouts as well. But you don't need a lot of protein for this. Furthermore, boosting your protein intake isn't going to help build muscles. That takes the resistance of the exercise. But any workout that's intense, especially endurance workouts, requires protein for some of the energy. But you can get all this extra protein from a well-balanced diet that includes nonfat dairy, beans, lean poultry and fish.
