Studies in almost 1,000 healthy middle-age female twins show that exercise can reduce the amount of total body fat, even in women genetically predisposed to obesity, according to researchers in London and Sydney. The amount of physical activity had a greater impact on obesity than either diet or smoking (Annals of Internal Medicine, Jun. 1, 1999)
